Re: To help a young ill Hamster
That's
a nice thing you are doing. However, you should also consult
a vet to see if it's safe and suitable for the hamster.

Re: To help a young ill Hamster
Hi~
You need to stop giving your hamster meds for humans.
Hamsters are very sensitive to antibiotics and unless the
proper antibiotic is prescribed by a vet, you can KILL your
hamster.
Why don't you take him to a vet?
Thanks,

everything and its very hard to find its not sold in drug
stores or anything and I'm only giving my hamster 4 drops
every 2 days or soo thats not alot and so far nothings gone
wrong I've been checking on her and making sure its all good

Re: I DID!
Human
medicines are bad for people in general. Hamsters are
allergic, and can die, from many herbs as it is, so it being
herbal does not really help the case. If it's internal
tumor, I'd suggest putting her to sleep. There is nothing,
like you said, that vets can do about internal tumors. They
grow, stretching her poor stomach out, and pushing on all of
her organs. She'll be in pain as the tumor grows and it's
just not worth it to watch her suffer. If its external, the
vet CAN remove it without too much risk if she's under a
year. If she's over a year old, it could get a lot more
risky, but at least she'd die in her sleep.
Please do not continue giving your hamster that medicine. It
mya look like its helping, but in fact, you do not actually
know how its making her feel, what its doing to her body and
appetite.

Vet
you
can do 1 of 3 things
1. go to a different vet.
2. carry on and hope it don't die.
3. don't do anything and let hammy die.
DON'T do the last one cuz it hammy abuse!
wow...theres a lot of don'ts..

You all don't understand
Okay
yes this tumor could get bigger but its not since I've been
giving her esiac and non of you know ANYTHING about it I do
my mom makes it I've look up all of those herbs and non are
harmful too her.
her tumor isn't hurting her so i figure since she's only
like a year and a half that i can help her by giving her
this I talked to my vet and a few others around town they
all said that nothing they can do. i talked to my homeopath
about giving this to my hamster and she said its great
because she knows a few other people who've taken this have
givin it to there animals when they got ill and therefore
makes this safe I'm not abusing her at all she Drinks this
stuff on her own I don't need to force her to take it I give
it too her every 2 days 4 drops from a eye dropper (thats
brand new never used except for this) and everything is fine
please understand that

Re: You all don't understand
Hmmmm.
If you think that it is your only choice, so be it. You are
right, there is little that a vet can do for a hamster with
cancer. Just please watch, if the tumor begins to affect
your hamster's quality of life, you may have to let her go.

any progress
FreakyEwi,
I agree with you that doing something to give your hamster a
more comfortable life is better than just putting it to
sleep and commend you on your efforts. As your last post was
about 1 month ago I am curious to see how things are
going...Is your hamster doing ok with the essiac treatments?
Has the tumor continued to regress?
My hamster just had surgery to remove a tumor, but im afraid
he is beginning to develop another and can not endure the
stress of another surgery, thinking about trying the Essiac
tea next...

Re: any progress
I'm
praying for your hamster and mom right now. I've heard
stories how faith has pulled people through in times of
great illness. I guess the best thing you can do for your
hamster besides using the medication is be there for him or
her and pray.

Re: any progress
I'm
sorry to hear about your hamster, and I hope it keeps
getting smaller and she is well soon. How has she been
acting? Does she still act the same or has she stopped doing
certain things she used to? She may not even be suffering. I
don't think something herbal could be bad for your hamster..
it isn't bad for us humans.. whoever said that. If anything
worse happens then you should stop use of it.. but I think
she'll be okay. Good luck!

pudge is doing well!
I
was hoping Freaky Ewi would reply.
The essiac treatments for my hamster pudge has gone well, i
can't tell if the tumor has gotten smaller during the time
he was on it, but it definitely did not get any bigger.
Pudge was on Essiac for only a couple of days. Since he
started the Essiac I found a more promising, more expensive,
and more labor intensive herbal treatment and discontinued
the Essiac...I don't know how well it is working for now as
he has only taken the second dose of it so far but i will
keep everyone apprised. Because of this treatment's
experimental nature I will start a blog website for Pudge's
progress, hopefully it does work and if it is successful,
will benefit other hamsters in the future... fingers crossed
for pudge and hamster-kind!

looks like a huge pimple could that be a tumor? and the
other is under its mouth near his neck. Are these things
cancer? has anyone else experienced this before?

Re: To help a young ill Hamster
Oh,
and the other thing it could be is an abcess. Abcesses are
infected wounds that can sometimes look like that. This
requires vet attention as well.

Yes,
i agree, you should take it to the vet, hopefully it is an
abcess, but the locations of the lumps being in two seperate
areas may indicate worse... I hope not.
My hamster's second tumor is under his neck and is a
considerable lump, looks like a small oval grape in his
throat. So far the essiac treatments has been inconclusive
but i am working on a website to keep track of his
progress...all I know is it is similar to freakyewi's
experiences where it has slowed the growth...Pudge (my
hamster) still seems healthy otherwise. I will let you all
know once the site is up!
